You must personally contact each of the three credit reporting agencies – transunion, experian, etc. and request a copy of your credit report. At some point you put a “fraud alert” on your name and SS#. You have to prove that you wish to remove this “alert” and you can do it just for 15 days – so that you’ll be approved for the car loan.

If the bank turns down your loan, they have to give you a reason and which credit bureau supplied the credit report to them. Ask for a written explanation.

Since the credit bureau listed activity duty military as a reason you could not get a credit report, and your are active duty, that’s probably the reason … if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it’s a duck.

I don’t know why being active duty would prevent access to your credit report, especially if you didn’t do something to freeze your credit. Contact the credit bureau and ask what you need to do. You will probably have to send a letter requesting the bank be allowed access to your credit.
